Can the Glass in the Door or Window Be Replaced?

Modified on Fri, 21 Feb at 1:26 PM

Replacing a glass pane is just as straightforward as assembling a garden house.

1. Remove the Glazing Beads
Carefully remove the glazing beads using a knife, chisel, or a small board and a hammer. Remove any bent nails, straight ones can be reused.

2. Take Out the Broken Glass
For your safety, always wear gloves (even though we know our expert in the pictures has been ignoring this advice). Carefully remove the broken glass pane or any loose fragments. Use pliers to handle smaller pieces securely. Dispose of sharp shards properly.

3. Prepare for Installation
If the window has a preassembled sealing strip, simply replace the glass pane. For windows without one, apply a layer of sealant first to ensure a secure fit.

4. Reattach the Glazing Beads
Secure the glazing beads using the nails removed earlier. For windows without preassembled sealing strips, adding a layer of sealant between the edges of the glazing beads and glass improves water resistance.

By following these steps, your door or window will look as good as new—plus, you’ll save materials and reduce CO₂ emissions. Thank you for your contribution!
