Playgrounds Made of Round Wood

Modified on Mon, 10 Mar at 2:54 PM

Many of Palmako’s playgrounds are made from solid, round wooden logs. As a natural material, wood expands and contracts with environmental changes, sometimes leading to cracks or slight warping. However, these natural changes do not affect the wood’s strength or the playground’s functionality.

Safety & Durability

To ensure long-term stability, all round logs are engineered with a fourfold safety margin based on their load capacity. For example, a top log designed to support two swings carrying 50 kg each is actually built to withstand up to 400 kg.

Causes and Prevention of Cracking

Cracks can form due to the natural drying process after pressure treatment and exposure to hot or dry conditions, particularly in warm weather.

Applying wood oil regularly helps prevent excessive drying, reducing the risk of additional cracks. If you have concerns about cracks in your playground, please send us photos for evaluation.

Cracks & Warranty Considerations

Not all cracks are considered defects. We assess them based on width and depth. Cracks that are no wider than 10% of the wood's diameter and extend only up to the core are classified as safe and acceptable. Wider or full-depth cracks may require further evaluation.

With over 20 years of experience, Palmako is dedicated to producing reliable, round-log playgrounds. Our playgrounds comply with standard EN 71 & Directive 2009/48/EC
